Powell's has just posted its 2010 Holiday Gift Guide. You can browse it in a clever Flash-based magazine-style format (I'd have preferred a plain old PDF) as well as a more conventional HTML layout. All of the titles — which include Mark Twain's autobiography, Keith Richards' new bio (The Guardian's wry "digested read" is here), a classy box set of the Hunger Games trilogy, Jonathan Franzen's Freedom, Carol Sklenicka's literary bio of Raymond Carver, and dozens more — come with 30% discounts off the cover price, and an order of $50 or more will waive shipping costs.Even if you don't intend to make a purchase at Powell's, their gift guide might leave you with a idea or two about what your fellow readers might be hankering after this yuletide season.
I have no idea if Auntie's will be running a similar kind of holiday promotion, but it would be awfully good to see one.
Thanks for posting this holiday guide. It was kind of a pain to read it, but I liked the cartoon illustrations.
ReplyDeleteDid you notice the link at the top of the page where you can view it the "old-fashioned way"? I guess it's a webpage.
